Please fill out the following by May 28th (that gives you a week). If you haven't checked in by then I will try to contact you by email and PM. If you haven't contacted me back by the 1st then I will give your prompt to a pinch hitter.

Nothing is due (you have till June 20th to complete your rough draft). This is just to see that authors are on track and to determine if we need pinch hitters (and give them the time to work if we do).

Authors and artists, make sure you are a member of this community and are watching it. Keep in mind if you need additional support, a place to vent or talk about your story, please join [info]xmrb_support.

We've already gotten a few questions about this so to clear up some things and let everyone know what's coming up.

The Author checkpoint IS mandatory. We DO NOT require you to send us any of your story or have a certain percent done at this point. Author's drafts are due June 20th, 2012 and at the time turned in must be 80% done and 4,000 words minimum. Posting doesn't start till July 6th so this should give authors a good amount of time to finish up their stories if they aren't complete already. Stories DO have to be complete at the time of posting.

The Author Checkpoint is solely to make sure the author has something written and is still taking part. It will be open from May 21st to May 28th giving authors a full week to check in. If you will be unavailable at this time please arrange for a proxy to check in for you (they need to be aware of where you are at in your story). Any author that does not check in during this period will be defaulted from the art and it will be given to one of our pinch hitters.

If you have any questions about the upcoming checkpoint or anything else coming up in this challenge please feel free to ask!

Also, remember we have an amazing support community at [info]xmrb_support so if you aren't already a member please join!

In the event that an author has to drop out we want to be able to arrange a pinch hitter for the art prompt as soon as possible.

Pinch hitters will be given additional time to communicate with their artists and write their stories. After signing up if an art prompt becomes available that matches your preferences you will be sent an email asking if you could pinch hit for it. You can say yes or no to that prompt, it's your choice.

To sign up as an pinch hitter author please comment with the following:

Sign ups are screened so the only people who will be seeing your email are the mods.

Everything has now been claimed! Thank you to all the authors and artists taking part. Emails have been sent out and pairs should be getting in contact with each other. Authors feel free to now join the support community [info]xmrb_support.

At this time we ask that artists and authors not post any of their work publicly. If artists and authors want to show off the art they made/claimed please go ahead and link to this post.

Good luck to everyone, under the cut is our amazing pairs!

Round 1 Match Up Reveals )

We're about an hour away from the start of claims. Some quick things:

- Claims post - opens at 1pm PDT
- How claims work

As soon as claims open I will do my best to confirm a claim and strike it off the list. There will be a bit of a lag and the list won't always be up to date and what's been claimed (I am going to go back and forth between confirming claims and striking out prompts).

Now, we only have a small gap between art prompts and authors signed up (83 art prompts and 91 authors) and only a little over half of the authors signed up filled out the claims poll. So what we're going to do is give those that signed up a chance to claim first, and in 24 hours after claims open start advertising for more authors.

We know some authors might be willing to write for more than one prompt but right now we want to try to make it where the majority of authors are focused on just the one prompt. If everything hasn't been claimed by April 7th, 2012 we will then allow authors to claim a second prompt then (opening at the same time - 1pm PDT, for those who want to plan in advance).

Thank you to everyone involved in this challenge, and good luck on claims!

I am working on the coding now, you guys are all ridiculously amazing and there is a ton of art. So it's taking a bit longer to all code together.

It's now up!

How Art Claims will work:
The art pieces will be going up in a members-locked post with comments turned off on Thursday, March 29th so everyone can get a chance to look through the art before the claiming begins. Prompts will be numbered, without the artist's name attached. Each prompt will include a thumbnail (which links to the full-size version), a short description, preferred pairings (if there are any) and ratings. Here is an example:

1000.
Rating: any
Pairing(s): Gen or Angel/Raven
Description: Angel with hair in her face.

Claims Begin:
Comments will be turned on at 1pm PDT on Saturday, March 31st. When the Claims Post opens, authors will comment with their top 5 art choices. Mods will reply and inform the author of which piece they get, and the piece will be struck out in the claims post.

In the first round of claims authors will only be allowed to claim one piece of art. Claims will be first come first serve, and the prompts will be crossed out as they are claimed. If there are unclaimed pieces at the end of two days, there will be a second round of claims, wherein authors may claim a second piece to write for.

We cannot guarantee that anyone will get their first, second, or even fifth choice. Some pieces may be very popular, and it is natural to feel some disappointment if you don't get to write for something that really inspires you. However, please bear in mind the feelings of artists who will be reading the comments to the Claims Post as well; making comments along the lines of "I don't want to write for any of this" or "there's nothing good left" will not make any of the artists feel very good. If you've ever participated as an writer in a Big Bang challenge, I'm sure you can understand the anxiety that comes from having your work chosen quickly or not quickly at all. If all your choices have already been picked we will let you know and ask you to make a new comment with new selections.

Proxies: If an author cannot comment when they claims post first opens, they may preview the claims beforehand and submit their choices to a proxy. If a proxy is making a claim for themself as well, they must leave two separate comments, one stating their top 5 choices and one stating the top 5 choices of their friend.

Here is what the claims comment format will look like:
LJ Username:
Email:
Choice #1:
Choice #2:
Choice #3:
Choice #4:
Choice #5:

Multiple claims: Two or more authors claiming the same piece to write a story for will not be allowed until every single piece has been claimed. Only if every single piece has been claimed will we consider opening the pieces up to second claims.

After a piece has been claimed:
Artists are free to contact their author as soon as they see that their piece has been claimed. We will be posting a Author/Artist Matchup Reveals post and as well as sending email notifications to authors and artists, but that will take time for us to do so we strongly recommend that artists proactively contact their authors ASAP.

If you have any questions about the Claim Process, please comment to this post.

Artists still have a little over two weeks to send in their art! When turning in your art please follow these instructions.

  • Art pieces may be finished or works in progress.
  • They are due by March 26th, 2012, but you can send them in earlier.
  • Submissions should be sent to xmenreversebang@gmail.com with the subject: Art Submission - Username. Attach the file(s) to the email or link to where you are hosting it.
  • You can submit up to two art prompts. These prompts should not be linked, as each prompt could be chosen by different authors.
  • If you are doing a comic style piece with panels or making a prompt with more than one piece, it must be on one image file which will then count as one piece.
  • There is no maximum size for art, though each art prompt must be at least 400 by 600 pixels. Videos must be at least one minute in length. Fanmixes need to be at least 8 tracks and cover and back art (minimum size for those are 400x400px). A download link for the mix needs to be included when the mix is turned in, that link will not be in the claims post but will be given to the author that claims it.
  • Images can be sent in the following formats: JPG, PNG, and TIFF.
  • Vids can be sent in the following formats: 3GP, ASF, AVI, MOV, MPEG, MPG, RM, RV, and WMV.

For each prompt you need to fill out the following information (please send in different prompts in separate emails):

    Livejournal Name:
    Email:
    Piece #:
    X-Men Verse:
Rating: (not of the art but highest rating desired of the fic)
Suggested Pairing(s): (indicate here if you want gen, have pairing preferences or don’t care either way)
Description: (optional - if doing a fanmix put the track-listing here)

If sending in a fanmix please combine the cover and back art on one image file. So if your cover and back art are both 500x500px then your image file would be 1000x500px.

If you have any questions about how to submit your art please ask here.
